A SERIES of walks will take place over the picturesque Marsden Moor on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
The National Trust encourages people to enjoy the moorland all year round and on Boxing Day the trust says two organised walks will be the perfect way to burn off Christmas calories.
On Wednesday, December 26, at 1pm there will be a five-mile walk, or a three-mile ramble, dubbed the health walk, at 10.45am.
Then again on New Year’s Day the trust hosts a second five-mile walk at 11am.
Community engagement ranger Alyssa Young said: “Marsden Moor has something to offer in every season, and we want to encourage people to explore it even in the winter months.
“Our guided and self-led walks are both great ways to discover what the area has to offer.
“Walking is a great way to exercise and keep fit, and is also a great activity to do as a family which makes it perfect for this festive period.”
If you would like to join these guided walks please meet the National Trust walk leaders at Marsden railway station at 1pm on Wednesday, December 26, or 11am on Tuesday January 1.
For the Boxing Day Health Walk meet at the National Trust Exhibition Room in Marsden at 10.45am. Walk leaders advise people to dress in suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes.
