CRIME prevention advice will be on offer to the people of Crosland Moor following a spate of burglaries.

There were 23 burglaries in Crosland Moor in December, and 15 in November.

With two of the burglaries taking place at homes where windows and doors were left unlocked, officers from the Huddersfield South NPT will be visiting homes in the area to speak to residents and offer crime prevention advice in a bid to reduce the amount of offences taking place.

Inspector Adrian Waugh of the Huddersfield South NPT said: "There are simple steps that people can take that will deter burglars. Locking doors and windows is an obvious one, as is having timers on your lights.

“But other cheap and effective measures, such as buying sash jammers to secure patio doors, may be things that people aren't aware of.”

Anyone in the Crosland Moor area who would like officers to visit their homes is asked to call the Huddersfield South NPT on 01484 436672 or email: ea.southnpt@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

The next PACT meeting in the area, on the February 3 at the Netherton Community Centre (6.30pm) will also see one of the police Crime Reduction Officers talking to people about home security and crime prevention advice.
