LOVE blossomed over the garden fence for golden wedding couple John and Annie Edgar.
The couple met as neighbours in Robin Hood Road, Sheepridge.
They married at Christ Church, Woodhouse and live in Keldregate, Bradley.
Mr Edgar, 81, was a member of the 21st Parachute Regiment and fought at Arnhem, surviving the famous bridge battle.
He worked at Highfield Gears for 30 years in the security and timekeeping office.
Mrs Edgar, 76, worked in textiles as a weaver at Blamires Mill on Leeds Road.
The couple have a daughter and son, one grandson and three adopted great grandchildren.
Their daughter Elaine owns Tristan Dance Studios at Marsh and the couple help her there every day.
Their anniversary is today and they will be celebrating with a family meal on Saturday evening.
