HAIRDRESSERS embarked on a hair-raising ghost hunt to raise money for a hospice.

The girls from Val’s Hairdressing in Netherton spent the night at the spooky Bolling Hall in Bradford.

Anne-Marie Walker, Lisa Clayton, Charlotte Haigh and Lucy Sykes who took part raised £870 for Kirkwood Hospice.

Anne-Marie, from Meltham, said: “We chose to raise the money for Kirkwood Hospice as it is very close to our hearts.”

Hairdresser Anne-Marie, 31, said her uncle Danny McLellan had recently been diagnosed with cancer, after his wife Lorraine died from lung cancer last year.

While Lisa’s dad Darral Clayton recently died from liver cancer and spent days being looked after at the Dalton hospice.

Mum-of-two Anne-Marie, who herself has been battling skin cancer, said: “We’d like to say thank you to everyone who sponsored us to do the challenge.”

Val Hopson, who owns the salon on Netherton Fold, came up with the fundraising idea.

The girls presented the cash to Jay Mistry and Dr Ramesn Thulavavenkateswaran from Kirkwood Hospice.
