A MAN has appeared in court accused of threatening to kill his partner.

Leslie Grant, of Pine Court in Netherton, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He faces charges of making threats to kill, assault and possession of an offensive weapon, a meat cleaver, in a public place.

Magistrates were told that the first two charges relate to an incident on New Year’s Eve.

Grant, 41, allegedly put a knife to his partner Charlene Patrice’s neck and threatened to cut her into pieces.

On January 2, Grant is alleged to have chased Miss Patrice down the street with a meat cleaver.

Grant gave no indication as to what his plea will be to the three charges.

Magistrates told him that his case will be heard at Leeds Crown Court.

His case was adjourned until January 11.

Grant was remanded in custody.
