A NETHERTON woman has been crowned queen of cuisine in a recipe search competition.

Nicola Haigh’s Gingerlicking Chicken recipe will take pride of place in pub company Table Table’s new charity cook book.

The £2 recipe book will go on sale in Table Table restaurants across the UK, priced £2 to raise money for WaterAid.

The 32-year-old, pictured, said: “My partner and I love a good curry and I invented the dish so that our children could enjoy it with us without burning their mouths. It’s a real thrill to be able to share the recipe with others in this way. WaterAid is such a good cause so I could not be more pleased.”

In addition to seeing her recipe in print, she has also won a year’s worth of free meals at The Aspley Table Table in St Andrews Road.

General manager of The Aspley, Warren Brazier said: “We are excited to have a winner picked from our region and, having tried the Gingerlicking Chicken we could not be more confident that food fans across the country will enjoy it as much as we do.”
