But this only partly explains why he will be playing late 1920s popular dance band music on Newcastle upon Tyne's world famous Tyne Bridge, for one day only on Friday.

He'll be collaborating with an artists' collective under the banner of CST (Coal Salt Tin) inside the bridge's North Tower in Warehouse- Memories from the Tower, a look at the core CST theme of Britain's post-industrial heritage.

The former Fartown High School and Huddersfield Polytechnic student, took a degree in fine art at Newcastle University so he'll be back on familiar ground.

Earlier this year the father of three was on the shortlist for a commission to fill the vacant fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square with his wooden replica of two cruise missiles.
