Thousands are expected to take to the hills for the Emley Show this weekend.

And organisers are promising a new range of attractions to entice people to the showground below the towering TV mast.

The show is on Saturday, and is being billed as a true agricultural show – but with something for the whole family.

The location is also stunning, with views across the whole of Huddersfield and beyond. Last year around 15,000 visitors passed through the gates, and with good weather, this could be beaten again this year.

New attractions will include the Blazing Saddles Stunt Team and Ridgeside Falconry and Lurchers.

Blazing Saddles are a team of experienced horsemen who will be presenting their Wild West Extravaganza including Barrel Racing and Fire Show.

Ridgeside will be presenting outstanding birds of prey and lurcher demonstrations .

Other main ring attractions include the mounted fancy dress, Rockwood Hounds, the vintage tractor parade and the children’s races.

The show is being sponsored by RRG Group, which owns Toyota dealerships in Huddersfield, Bradford and Silsden.

The dealership will be bringing many cars to the show including the new Toyota GT86 sports car.

Operations manager Peter Smith said: “We have just become part of the Huddersfield community by taking on the dealership in Leeds Road and we are delighted to be involved with such a great event as Emley Show.”

Show spokesman Richard Hartley said: “There will be thousands of exhibits across hundreds of classes and competitions including cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, eggs, heavy horses, vintage tractors and dry stone walling.

“We will also feature show-jumping, horse showing, shire horses and gymkhana; rabbits, hamsters, mice, cage birds and pigeons, handicrafts, horticulture, floral art, cookery, photography, art and wood carving; plus the children’s classes, the fun dog show and the rabbit jumping.

“The stalls and stands form an important feature at Emley Show and there will also be over 100 across the showground.”
