THE British National Party claims it has supporters in several Kirklees schools.

It has listed schools where it claims to have members or supporters - including two junior schools - but one of the high schools does not even exist.

Huddersfield New College appears on the list along with Castle Hall School in Mirfield.

The rest are in Dewsbury.

The two junior schools are Westmoor Junior School and Bywell Junior School along with Earlsheaton High School, St John Fisher RC High School, Westborough High School, Thornhill High School and Birkdale High School.

The school listed that does not exist is Saville Town High School.

Kirklees Council says head teachers are aware they are on the list, but there is no evidence of any problems in the schools.

The website, run by the Young BNP, claims: "We have hundreds of members and even more supporters all over the UK. If you are at school, college or university e-mail us."

It adds: "We would like to stress that the schools listed only have students who are either members or supporters of the British National Party and that there is no link or affiliation between the BNP or any of the schools themselves."

This means it claims it has supporters aged 11 or under who have contacted them.

Kirklees education spokeswoman Sue Lord said: "There is no evidence of any activity in any of the schools and we have tried to get their names removed from the list.

"The schools are appalled they are included."

A contact number on the Young BNP site was a dead line.
