Steel Magnolias Sugar and Craft Club will hold its first meeting at Birchencliffe Community Centre this week.

Members will be able to get to grips with a variety of craft techniques, including sugar craft, using chocolate and gelatine and fresh flowers.

The group also plans to hold themed workshops on occasions like Halloween, Christmas and Easter.

The group was formed by a group with similar interests who wanted to share their skills, learn new ones and make new friends.

The first meeting is on Saturday from 1 to 3pm.

They will then meet on the second Saturday of each month.

Future speakers will include Karen Davis, who has books published on sugar craft, and Anna Marie-Bell, who is well known for her gelatine flowers.

Craft club members pictured with some of their work are (from left) Elaine Fforbes- Fitzsimmons, Sally Mackereth, Julie Burnett, Dawn Namini and Sandra Greenwood.
