THE rained off Elland Charity Carnival will be back.
And it may even have a spooky theme.
David McCorie, a committee member, says they were disappointed to cancel last weekend’s carnival due to water-logged fields.
But a new date has been set on Saturday, October 6.
David said: “October 6 is the new date and we’ll lift what was planned for July 7 and put it down in October as much as we can.
“Some of the people may have other commitments, which we understand, but we’ll try and do as much as we can and perhaps even more.”
The event was cancelled due to severe flooding of fields in the Elland area after heavy rain fell last Friday.
David said: “It was a difficult decision to make, but what other choice was there? All the fields were flooded.
“It wasn’t the sort of event we could do inside. No-one could have planned for the rain we’ve had recently.
“A few people have suggested a Halloween theme so we may have a fancy dress competition.”
The annual event includes a procession through the town to Boxhall playing fields, where there will be stalls, games and entertainment.
