HOSPITAL patients can enjoy two new gardens thanks to The League of Friends.

The landscaped areas at the Holme Valley Memorial Hospital, Holmfirth, are next to the revamped Maple Ward.

The gardens are part of more than £30,000 of support for the hospital by the charity, including new items of equipment and furniture.

The new gardens, designed and built by Shepley-based Creative Landscape Solutions, give the hospitals physiotherapists a new area to work on patients’ rehabilitation.

Cherry trees have been planted in memory of hospital stalwart Ann Sutton, who died early this year.

Ann worked as a nurse at the hospital for many years and was secretary of the League of Friends until her death.

The Friends run a hospital cafe and are always looking for volunteers and donations. Ring Pauline Taylor on 608970.
