A NEW health centre and surgery was opened in Milnsbridge.

And staff at the centre asked their oldest patient, 102-year-old Amy Broadley, to perform the ceremony at the New Street site.

She was joined by the senior partner Dr Matthew Boulton.

The surgery replaces a former one in Paddock and now serves 6,400 patients from Milnsbridge, Cowlersley, Paddock, Linthwaite and South Crosland. It has another branch in Netherton.

Among services offered by the centre are yellow fever vaccinations and a teenage drop-in clinic.

Practice manager Gill Jones said: “It is a wonderful base from which to offer our medical services.

“We wish to thank Kirklees Primary Care Trust for their help and Trinity Medical Developments, who built the facility”.
