A CONVENIENCE store in Huddersfield has bounced back after being hit by ram-raiders.

Owners Dee and Snehal Patel are celebrating after a six-month project to breathe new life into their store in Acre Street, Lindley.

After the ram-raid in February last year - which destroyed the shop front - sales fell and the incident threatened to close the shop for good.

But now, with help from wholesaler Parfetts, the store has been given a new look, inside and out.

New security devices have been installed and the business now includes the name of Parfetts' Lifestyle Neighbourhood store brand.

Mr Patel said: "The difference is amazing. Customers love the new look. They cannot believe the transformation.

"They've supported us through all the tough times."

Robbie Paul, the captain of Bradford Bulls rugby league team - the world club champions - relaunched the refitted store.

The refit began in January and took just under six months.

There is now a fresh fruit and veg section, a chilled food area and a bakery counter.
