MORE than 20 new jobs will be created when a Kirklees factory re-opens.

The plant, in Dewsbury Moor, is expected to re-open in the summer.

The Rohm and Haas manufacturing plant in Heckmondwike Road was shut down nearly two years ago because of the economic crash.

Now bosses are confident they can relaunch the business, creating 25 jobs.

The company makes paint products.

In April 2009, the company was acquired by the Dow Chemical Company and in July of that year, production shut down.

Now, as the economy starts to show signs of recovery, demand for the firm’s products has increased.

Keith Wiggins, general manager for Dow UK, said: “Several options were explored and after much consideration it was agreed that to restart the Dewsbury facility was the most suitable.

“The restart will create approximately 25 new jobs in the first instance and the recruitment process is currently under way, with a view to having the site operational by June”.
