FIVE staff are being recruited to plan the introduction of US-style yellow school buses in West Yorkshire.

The move comes after talks opened with local education authorities and head teachers over which areas should get the buses.

The first phase of 30 buses will hit the streets by next year, the Examiner revealed last week.

A total of 150 yellow buses will eventually come into operation in the region.

A newsletter keeping people in touch with the latest developments is being issued by West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.

Chairman Clr Mick Lyons said the newsletter it was an important part of consultations on which schools will get the first buses.
