VILLAGE pubs are joining forces to bar troublemakers.
Kirkburton watering holes have set up a Pubwatch scheme to root out problem drinkers.
The scheme has eight members working with Kirkburton Neighbourhood Policing Team and Kirklees Council’s licensing department. The aim is to combat drink-related crime and disorder and underage drinking.
PCSO Judith Brimicombe said: “The scheme has been set up by local pubs in Kirkburton to ensure they are all aware of incidents where bar staff or customers have been intimidated by certain individuals. It enables them to maintain contact and allows licensees to alert each other to any trouble before it occurs.
“I think it sends out a clear message that anyone who commits any type of disorder or makes threats in any pub in the Kirkburton area will not only be banned from that pub but all the pubs within the Pubwatch scheme.”
A Pubwatch meeting will take place at 10am on October 2 at The Foxglove on Penistone Road.
