A CENTURY of New Mill social history will be outlined by Holme Valley historian Pamela Cooksey.

Ms Cooksey has investigated the history of the New Mill Club and Memorial Room, drawing on the first hundred years of the club's minutes, from 1871 to 1971.

The club was at the centre of the village's social and educational life throughout that time, though it took half a century to achieve the aim of a public hall for New Mill – built in 1922 and still at the heart of local life today.

The talk will be at 7.30pm at Huddersfield Library (in the Children's Library) on Monday, March 30.
