A NEW planning application has been submitted for the town’s replacement sports centre after it has bizarrely been left short of cash.
Details of the cut-back plan are emerging four months after the original plan was approved and just days after approval of a Tesco plan for the site of the present sports centre, two blocks of flats, car parks and other buildings.
The council is now looking to make £900,000 of savings.
To get approval the new plan has to go back before planning officers.
The council is changing specifications and the design to cut construction costs and remove some environmental features.
The council will spend £7,500 on the roof so that solar panels could be installed if further funding becomes available in future.
The application was submitted on Friday February 18.
