PLANS for a new toddlers’ play area have been unveiled.

Kirklees Streetscene Parks team want to install a new play area for young children on land off New Laithe Close, Lowerhouses.

Currently, it’s an area of green open space and is just yards away from an existing play area, which includes a basketball court.

A planning application has been submitted to Kirklees Council for approval.

It says there will be an underwater theme, as requested by the public.

The application says: “The request for a play area in this location came from ward councillors and members of the community and is supported by Streetscene.

“The play area is to provide play facilities for toddlers up to eight-year-olds.”

They say it fits in with the community space while providing varied opportunities for play, including climbing, balancing and swinging.
