HUDDERSFIELD town centre is to get a new police inspector.

Danny Groiser is officially the new Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector for Huddersfield South.

He brings a wealth of experience with him to the post from policing across Kirklees, the Force and also in the Metropolitan Police.

The town centre, Crosland Moor, Dalton, Moldgreen, Almondbury and more, will all be among his new beats in what is one of the busiest Neighbourhood Policing Team patches in West Yorkshire.

The officer’s previous post had been as the head of Quality and Standards for Kirklees Division, helping to improve officer’s performance and issues raised by members of the public.

He has also worked directly alongside high ranking officers such as two former Deputy Chief Constables and spent time policing in Dewsbury and in Huddersfield.

Insp Groiser said: “Impressive reductions in crime across Kirklees have seen over 5,000 fewer victims of crime over the last 12 months and it’s really important to me to maintain and build on this good performance.”

He said he had served in the police for over 20 years and had enjoyed his time in Huddersfield which had included roles as a traffic sergeant.
