A TWO year project to develop a pond for Clough Head, Junior and Infant School at Bolster Moor has finally come to fruition.

Headteacher Claire Kenworthy said: “Parents and pupils have been fully involved from digging it out to fitting the liner and matting, and finally, last Friday, to watching excitedly as Yorkshire Water filled the pond for us.”

The project has been supported by the school’s PTA, Yorkshire Water and the Jo Barnes Trust Fund, a Colne Valley charity that donates money to local environmental projects in memory of a local woman who died from cancer.

Mrs Kenworthy added that the pond had been planted with plants to oxygenate the water and it was hoped that over the summer holiday it would start to attract creatures and wildlife for when the children returned to school in September.
