A HUDDERSFIELD church is awaiting a new arrival.

The Rev Calvert Prentis has been appointed priest-in-charge at Holy Trinity Church, off Trinity Street.

Mr Prentis, 42, will take up the new post on July 25. He will replace Canon Edward Roberts who retired from the parish last year.

The married father-of-one is currently team vicar at St George's Team Ministry, Leeds, and assistant diocesan director of ordinands in the Diocese of Ripon.

He plans to move to Huddersfield with his wife Sharon and their nine-year-old daughter in June.

He said: "I am looking forward to working among such a different community.

"Huddersfield is much smaller than Leeds yet it demonstrates more of a multi-ethnic society."
