A NEW programme to build self esteem and confidence is being run at Kirklees College.
The college has teamed up with the Prince’s Trust to offer the free 12-week programme for 16 to 25-year-olds.
Known as Team, it aims to help young people work with others to uncover hidden talents and improve confidence.
Teams of up to 15 young people are led by a trained team leader to carry out a variety of tasks to benefit their local community.
The varied programme also includes a team building residential, community project, work placements, CV writing and interview techniques and a team challenge.
Team leader Tahrina Ahmed from Kirklees College said: “We hope those taking part will come out ready to give their life a kick-start with new skills and qualifications.”
Young people on benefits are usually able to claim while taking part and 16 to 18-year-olds are able to claim Educational Maintenance Allowance to support them and a bus pass.
Anyone interested in the Team programme, which starts on November 16, can contact Tahrina or Katy at the college on 01484 437182 or text 07925504329.
