A NEW scheme to help people in Kirklees make their home warmer and reduce their fuel bills launches this week.

People from across the district will be among the first to benefit from the Kirklees Energy Saver scheme, which will deliver energy efficiency improvements to homes.

The scheme will offer home owners and privately renting tenants grants and interest free loans to help pay for a broad range of home improvements, including external wall insulation, central heating, double glazing and standard and narrow cavity wall insulation.

The offer is available on a first come, first served basis until the end of February 2013 and energy saving improvement works will be carried out throughout the year.

YESprojects, working with Viscount Environmental, have been appointed by the council to carry out the work.

Although available to all home owners and privately renting residents, the Kirklees Energy Saver Scheme focuses on homes that are hard to heat or difficult to insulate.

Homeowners and privately renting tenants who were unable to benefit from standard energy saving services in the past, such as traditional Cavity Wall Insulation through the Warm Zone, can now take advantage of effective alternatives for little or no cost.
