THE latest stage of a major dam renovation has been completed.

Kirklees councillors viewed the new £2.7m overflow spillway at Ramsden Reservoir near Holmbridge on Friday.

The work is part of a £10m investment by Yorkshire Water in Holme Valley’s dams.

Clr Ken Sims was among the group to view the new spillway.

The Holme Valley South Conservative said: “It was great to see the fruits of Yorkshire Water’s latest investment, showing the company’s commitment to managing the area for locals and tourists alike.”

Picnic areas and access paths at Ramsden Reservoir, which had been closed since work started in March 2008, have now been reopened.
