A MAN will stand trial after a misguided gesture to wake his girlfriend led to a broken window.

Robert Boyle, of Croftlands, Newsome, used a pebble to throw at the window of his partner to attract her attention.

But the pebble smashed the window, causing £600 damage.

Boyle, 47, appeared before Kirklees Magistrates’ yesterday and pleaded not guilty to damaging a window intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged.

In his defence Jonathan Slawinski said his client was not reckless.

The court heard the incident happened at 5am at a house on Ravensknowle Road on December 28.

The case was adjourned until March 25 for a trial.

Boyle was released on unconditional bail until the trial.
