THE third annual Newsome Play Day takes place on Wednesday, August 1.
It will run from 11am to 4pm at Ashenhurst Rec and adjacent woods, between Newsome Road and New Laithe Hill.
It is part of a nationwide celebration of children’s play.
There will be a wide range of free activities for all ages from babies to teens, supporting the 2012 Play Day campaign theme: Get Out and Play!
To get the best out of the day, visitors are advised to prepare for weather and mess. There will be sandwiches, hot-dogs and drinks available to buy, but it is a great spot for a picnic, so people may wish to bring their own.
Local mum and co-organiser Joanne Smithson said: “It’s a great chance to kick off the summer holidays with some good outdoor family fun.”
