TWO Honley rail workers will be making Sri Lanka their next stop.

Northern Rail train driver Billy Hogarth and station team leader Rachael Howard - who both live in Honley - will be leaving for the Indian Ocean island in May.

Along with Leeds-based conductor Corinna Monaghan they will be helping to rebuild the country, which was one of the worst hit by the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004.

The trip has been organised by Charity Challenge, an adventure travel company specialising in fundraising expeditions.

The three rail employees will be working with the charity Habitat for Humanity, which aims to build 10,000 homes in Sri Lanka and 15,000 more throughout Asia.

The homes will provide shelter for some of the 5m people who were displaced by the tsunami.

To take part in the rebuilding efforts, Billy, Rachael and Corinna need to raise £500 each.

About 80% of the money they raise will go towards building materials. The rest will go to pay for Habitat for Humanity projects in other countries.

If you want to help Billy, Rachael and Corinna raise money you can send a cheque to Habitat for Humanity to Rachael Howard, Northern Rail, Ground Floor Admin Block, Leeds City Station.

Cheques must arrive before Friday April 21.
