THE UK housebuilding sector has stabilised, says an industry survey today.

Figures from the National House Building Council show that the organisation received 17,859 applications for new building in the three months to April – 10% up on the figure of 16,232 for the three months to March.

NHBC said activity levels for the three months to the end of April remained severely depressed – with a 53% reduction in the number of applications received compared to the same period a year ago.

NHBC statistics showed there were 967 applications for new build in Yorkshireduring the three months to the end of April – 58% down on the 2,320 recorded last time.
