A NEW project to help people deal with pain is being launched by Kirklees health experts.

The Persistent Pain Programme helps people with long-standing conditions which often bring pain.

NHS Kirklees is offering a course that will run for seven weeks and will involve various activities such as exercise techniques, meeting and sharing experiences with others in similar situations, and overcoming common misconceptions, fear and beliefs about pain.

Joanne Gould, expert patient programme coordinator at NHS Kirklees, said: “We want as many people as possible to benefit from this programme which has been shown to make a very big difference to people living with persistent pain.”

The Persistent Pain Programme will run from January 23 until early March and will be delivered by trained and accredited tutors who live with persistent pain and have become good pain managers themselves.

The sessions will be run at the Alder House Hotel in Batley.
