CONTRACTORS will work through the night on one of Huddersfield's busiest road junctions.

Work is due to start tonight in the latest phase of a £600,000 road re- alignment scheme at the traffic light junction of the A62 Leeds Road with Bradley Road and Colne Bridge Road at Bradley.

The work includes road planing and resurfacing, including an anti-skid surface, and road markings. The night-time work will run until September 30.

A Kirklees Highways Service spokesman said the majority of the work will be carried out at night between 8.30pm and 5am to help prevent traffic disruption to commuters.

"The contractors have also been asked to keep noise to a minimum.

"A lot of the work is noisy and dirty, but there are some things we have asked they do earlier in the evenings, rather than when people have gone to bed.

"Letters have been sent to residents asking them to avoid the junction when the work is taking place.

"There will be temporary traffic lights for traffic as the junction will be kept open.

"Local businesses have been and will continue to be open as usual throughout the duration of the work."

The work aims to improve the overall capacity of the junction by adding lanes on Bradley Road and Colne Bridge Road.

All the work is due to finish by October 9.
