An exciting new era beckons for one of Lindley’s best-known pubs.

Pub chain Enterprise Inns are spending thousands of pounds on revamping The Nightingale (previously The Globe) on Acre Street which is to be renamed The Old Wire Works in homage to a steel wire mill formerly owned by Joseph Sykes Bros.

Enterprise regional manager Jay Weir said: “The £80k scheme will give the area a fabulous front al fresco area, as well as an attractive, tidy, decked area.

“New toilets and several other improvements in the pub itself will complement the fantastic job landlord Terry Rose has done himself.

“We started on-site on 3 May, with closure on the 9th, and a relaunch on the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May with handover hopefully on 27 May.”
