NINE people who wanted their homes made warmer for free have scooped bonus cash prizes.
All took part in the Kirklees Warm Zone prize draw where winners were automatically entered into the draw by completing an assessment form for the competition with a chance to win either a £300 cut in their council tax bill or £300 worth of vouchers.
Mr Fred Firth, from Holmfirth, said: “ I enjoyed meeting the mayor. Getting insulation through Warm Zone has certainly helped to make my home warmer and winning the prize draw put the icing on the cake.”
Kirklees Warm Zone is a scheme backed by Kirklees Council which aims to provide every suitable household in Huddersfield with free loft and cavity wall insulation.
The scheme was launched in February, 2007, and representatives are visiting every household on a ward-by-ward basis over a three year period.
