KIRKWOOD Hospice's ninth shop opened this Easter - with hot cross buns for every customer.

The store, on Acre Street in Lindley, sells a mix of nearly-new clothing, furniture and accessories.

Each year the charity's shops raise more than £300,000 - which could pay for the Dalton hospice's in-patient unit for three months.

The new shop's manager, Jennifer Charlesworth, said: "Everyone at the hospice is looking forward to getting the shop going and having a presence in Lindley.

"I hope the shop becomes a feature of the community, with local people volunteering at the shop, giving goods for sale and, of course, shopping here."
