NO-ONE will face criminal charges over the death of a man at a Colne Valley chemical company.

Father-of-two Nicholas Shone died after he was found collapsed in a chemical mixing tank at Grosvenor Chemicals in Linthwaite early last Friday.

A senior detective told a Huddersfield inquest that the police investigation had finished.

Det Supt John Parkinson said: "The police have concluded their part of the investigation and there will be no formal criminal charges in this case."

But he said an investigation by officials from the Health and Safety Executive was continuing.

Mr Shone, 35, of Woods Avenue in Marsden, was found in the tank at 1.50am.

He was rescued by firefighters and taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The inquest was told that staff there battled in vain to try to save his life.

But he was pronounced dead at 3.10am.

The inquest was adjourned for further inquiries.

These will include the analysis of samples to determine an exact cause of death.

Mr Shone's funeral was due to be held at St Bartholomew's Church in Marsden at noon today.
