FOOTBALLERS' WIVES star Zoe Lucker is not to wed - contrary to a national newspaper report at the weekend.
Paul Lucker, the father of the Huddersfield-born actress, has dismissed rumours that his daughter is to marry DJ Tom Thorpe next year.
Mr Lucker - who was watching Zoe make her debut as a live presenter on ITV's CD:UK on Saturday - told the Examiner: "That's news to me!
"Tom is an old family friend, but as far as I am aware Zoe is not currently in a relationship with anyone.
"The paper has obviously just made it up."
The newspaper claimed romance between Zoe, 30, and Tom had blossomed at a friend's wedding last year.
The pair were reported to be living together and planning a big wedding in Yorkshire next summer.
Mr Lucker added: "She is not living with him. She lives in London and he lives in Leeds.
"It really is rubbish. If they want something on her and can't get it they just make it up."
He believed Zoe, who grew up in Lindley and went to Huddersfield New College, was coping well with her increasing fame.
He said: "I am very proud of her - but I am proud of all my kids.
"Her fame doesn't worry me, because she loves it.
"The downside is that she can't go anywhere without being traced. But I think she's got used to that. I am sure she'd rather it be like that than have no work at all."
Zoe, who plays superbitch Tanya Turner in the hit series Footballers' Wives, has now left the show to pursue other projects, including ITV army drama Bombshell.
But Mr Lucker revealed we might not have seen the back of Tanya.
He said: "The filming clashed with Bombshell, which was made by the same production company. So they had to write her out.
"But I think they have left the door open for her.
"She loves making Footballers' Wives so much. I don't think she wants to miss out."
