NOISE busters in Huddersfield are continuing to pursue people who make neighbours' lives a misery.

Two people have been convicted by Huddersfield magistrates for causing noise problems.

Dale Assani and Natalie Nichols, formerly of Manchester Road, Cowlersley, had their stereo equipment and CDs seized in October last year.

They were ordered to pay £75 each in compensation and £250 towards the council's costs on January 31, after admitting breaching a noise abatement notice and causing a statutory noise nuisance.

The council was given possession of the stereo equipment by the court.

The residents were prosecuted by Kirklees Environmental Services' Noise Pollution and Control team for breaching the abatement notice.

Clr Ann Denham, Cabinet member for the Environment, said: "Noise nuisance can seriously harm quality of life.

"We do not hesitate in bringing legal action against anyone who persistently causes nuisance to their neighbours in this way.

"This action often involves confiscating the offending stereo equipment and CDs."
