The North West Air Ambulance landed at playing fields in Huddersfield to bring a man to the Royal Infirmary.

The helicopter had been called to Blackstone Edge, in the Pennine hills between Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire, to help a man in his 60s.

The air ambulance brought him to Reinwood recreation ground, just a few hundred yards from Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

A spokesman for the Manchester-based air ambulance service said the man had been out walking but did not know if had been alone or with other people.

She would only say he was airlifted to Huddersfield ‘for medical reasons’.
