YOUNGSTERS at a Scissett school have their own transport – thanks to a kindly donation.

Staff and pupils at Nortonthorpe Hall School have been presented with a Variety Club Children’s Charity Sunshine coach.

The presentation was made by property investment and development company Town Centre Securities.

The school caters for seven to 16-year-olds with social, emotional and behavioural problems.

Carol Shore, the school’s business support manager, said: “We have been fortunate over the years to be the recipient of several Sunshine coaches.

“This latest coach will enable us to continue to provide the children with opportunities to practise their social skills on a wide variety of outings.

“It is also invaluable in providing them with fun and enjoyment during after school activities such as swimming.”

The presentation of the coach took place at the Merrion Centre in Leeds, one of TCS’ key properties. It was made by Dr Marjorie Ziff, widow of prominent Leeds businessman Arnold Ziff and her son Edward Ziff, chairman and chief executive of TCS.

The Ziff family has supported the Variety Club for many years in its work to help disabled and disadvantaged children across the region.
