NEW figures show the number of top managers at Kirklees Council has plummeted in the past six years.
In 2006 there were eight directors, including the chief executive.
But this figure now stands at just five.
And the number of managers at the next level down has fallen even more sharply – by two-thirds in the past six years.
There are currently 13 assistant directors working for Kirklees, down from 39 in 2006.
The number of senior managers – who earn between £40,000 and £60,000 a year – is also down.
In 2010 there were 106 Kirklees staff in pay grades 17, 18 and 19. But this number has now dropped to 71.
Councillors will discuss the figures at a meeting tomorrow.
Kirklees is in the middle of an £80m cuts programme as officials struggle to cope with the public spending squeeze.
The council’s overview and scrutiny panel for resources will discuss the cuts at a meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall at 10.30am tomorrow.
