SHE is the patients’ favourite.

Alison Haydock, who works as a nurse at BMI Huddersfield Hospital, Birkby, won the hospital’s inaugural BMI’s Got Nursing Talent Competition

Over the past few weeks, patients at the hospital have been voting for their favourite nurse, as part of International Nurses Day.

Alison said: “I’m thrilled to have won the BMI’s Got Nursing Talent competition.

“It is such a lovely surprise and it means even more to me that it comes from the patients I’ve cared for.

“May 12 is such a special day for nurses all over the world, and for all of us here at BMI Huddersfield Hospital to be recognised is so fantastic.”

May 12 was chosen as Nurses Day as it is the birth date of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.

All nurses and health care assistants at BMI in Birkby, enjoyed tea and cake and were presented with gifts for their hard work.

Director of clinical services Caroline Midgley said: “I feel very privileged to work with a team of such dedicated, caring and truly talented people.”
