WORKERS from the recently closed St Luke’s Hospital at Crosland Moor got together for a reunion in Huddersfield.
Staff from as far back as the 1960s gathered at the Irish Centre on Fitzwilliam Street for an evening of nostalgia.
The event, which featured a display of old photos from The Examiner archives and Huddersfield Library, also raised £600 for the Kirkwood Hospice.
Organiser, Sue Kilner, who left the Crosland Moor based hospital four years ago, said about 100 people had enjoyed the night, which included a buffet dinner, and she was hopeful it could be repeated.
She said: “It went really well. It was fantastic – a really good night.
“We met a lot of people that we hadn’t seen for years, people from all walks of life and different years.
“People were going round saying hello and all the memories started coming back.
“We talked about what a family orientated hospital it was. It was a nice place to work and I was sad to see it close down.”
St Luke’s closed on December 31 last year and all its services were transferred to other sites around the region.
The hospital site is being marketed for development.
