A MAN who ran a second- hand shop in Huddersfield for more than 50 years has died.

Donald Beckton, 83, owned Beckton's Bargains in Aspley and was a familiar figure behind the counter.

The shop, on the corner of Wakefield Road and Crowther Street, was always packed full of musical instruments, record players, radios and household goods.

Mr Beckton, of Crescent Royd, Almondbury, died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

He was a widower and left three children, Susan, Gary and Kathryn. He also had eight grandchildren, Sarah, Lisa, Andrew, Mathew, Leanne, Rachel, Sam and Sophie.

His funeral was at Huddersfield Crematorium on Friday.
