EDITH Longford was a much respected member of staff at former Huddersfield accountancy firm Revell Ward - now Mazars.
She worked as a bookkeeper and later as an accountancy clerk there for more than 25 years and was extr- emely well thought of.
Roger Armitage, a former partner in the company, said: "She was a very good worker, who achieved such a lot after coming to this country.
"She had little English when she came here from Germany and she learned the language as well as the English system of bookkeeping and tax system and was extremely competent."
Mrs Longford, of Woodfield Court, Edg- erton, died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary on February 1. She was 78.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Mrs Longford was a member of Huddersfield German Circle for more than 40 years and its president for 23 years.
She was married to her English husband, the late Arnold for only two years before he was killed while working abroad.
She is survived by a stepdaughter Joan, stepson-in-law and two step-grandchildren.
A service was held today at Huddersfield Crematorium.
