Mrs Corcoran, who has died at the age of 83, was brought up in Huddersfield and went to St Patrick’s School when it was on the fringes of the town centre.
She worked briefly as a bus conductor with Huddersfield Corporation before taking up the school job.
She married Joe Corcoran, who made his name as both an amateur and professional boxer, and the couple went on to have four sons and four daughters.
Mrs Corcoran also leaves 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Much of her time was devoted to the church where she ran both a Cub Scout group and a youth club.
She also worked with the local community, arranging Christmas fairs to raise cash, hosting Christmas dinners for the elderly and visiting parishioners in hospital.
And she was a founding member of the St Patrick’s Credit Union which is still going strong today.
