Mr Scott, of Lascelles Hall, died on March 8, aged 75.

In 1980, he was made president of Huddersfield Law Society, of which he had been a member of since 1960.

He retired from Eaton Smith as a senior partner six years ago.

Mr Scott was a keen golfer and was a past-president and former captain of both Huddersfield Golf Club and Royal St David's Golf Club in Wales.

He was a keen cricketer in his youth and in recent years took a great interest in the sporting progress of his grandson, Sam, 14, who now plays for Yorkshire's Under-15s.

Mr Scott had four other grandchildren, Stephen, David, Joanne, and Joshua. He leaves his wife of 41 years, Ruth, and their children, Paul, Christopher and Clare.
