A FORMER Kirkburton parish councillor has died.
Mrs Pat Butterworth had served on Kirkburton Parish Council for 16 years and was described by colleagues as a "courageous and much- loved" councillor.
She was a hard-working public servant, also being a member of Kirkburton and Highburton Community Association and president of Huddersfield's Soroptomist International Club.
Parish council chairman Clr Mike Greetham paid this tribute: "The council was greatly saddened to hear of the death of ex-councillor Pat Butterworth.
"This long-serving councillor was also a former chairman of the council and governor at Highburton First School.
"She was a very gracious lady who really cared for the community that she lived and worked in, right up to the end of her life.
"She will be particularly remembered for her quiet but firm contributions to debate at both the parish council and the community association," added Clr Greetham.
"Pat hugely enjoyed throwing parties at her home in Highburton and her sense of fun enlightened many meetings."
Mrs Butterworth's funeral service was held at All Hallows' Church, Kirkburton.
