A WELL-LOVED curate has passed away aged 71.

The Rev Cynthia Fox was popular among parishioners at St Martin’s Parish Church, Brighouse, and St John’s, Clifton.

She was also heavily involved with local schools, notably St Andrew’s Infants and Junior School in Brighouse.

The Rev Stephen Spencer, vicar at St Martin’s, said: “She was very kind and committed, especially to the community.

“She had a mobility problem, but that enhanced her motivation in life and people could really empathise with her.

“I’ll be leading her funeral service, and it will be an honour for me to lead a service for such a wonderful lady. I think it will be a big occasion because she was well-loved.”

The youngest daughter of the late Ada and Cecil Fox, she was sister to Barbara, and the late Bruce, Keith and Enid.

Rev Fox lived in Mirfield and was previously curate at a Battyeford church.

She had been with St Martin’s for five years as curate, and would take services and run children’s groups including the mums and tots groups and after school clubs at St Andrew’s.

She passed away at Kirkwood Hospice on April 9.

Her funeral service will be held at St Martin’s Church, Brighouse, tomorrow, at midday.
