A FORMER teacher in Huddersfield has died at the age of 83.
Miss Cathleen Walker spent more than three decades at Clough Head Infant and Nursery School at Bolster Moor.
Miss Walker, the daughter of the late Norman and Amy Walker, attended Knowle Bank Infant and Junior School.
She later studied at the then Royds Hall Secondary School and went on to gain her teaching certificate at St Catherine’s College in the Lake District.
She taught for a short spell at the former New Street Infant and Nursery School in Milnsbridge before moving on to her long stint at Clough Head, where she taught hundreds of children.
Miss Walker took early retirement at 57.
She later went on to enjoy many lunches and holidays with the Retired Teachers Association.
Due to ill health, Miss Walker spent the last five years of her life at the Knowle Court residential home in Golcar.
Her funeral service takes place at Stainland Parish Church on Friday, June 1, at 11.30am.
